1’000 EUR on food deliveries

This is my most embarrassing screenshot. . .

That’s my bank statement from last July. . .

when I spent over a thousand euros on food delivery app Wolt. . .

that’s a whopping 42 deliveries in a single month. . .

1.4 deliveries per day (including weekends).

I don’t know how I did it.

(okay, I guess I do know)

But here’s the lesson this screenshot taught me.

I teach people saving and investing. . .

Being prudent and building wealth. . .

But I had been spending over a thousand euros on food delivery per month without even realizing it!

That was money that I could have turned into MORE money by simply investing it…

But I was throwing it down the drain with meal deliveries that I didn’t even enjoy that much.

The truth is, financial discipline is not like riding a bicycle.

It’s not “learn it once and it’s easy forever”.

It takes effort to maintain.

As soon as you stop paying attention. . .

Sushi delivery strikes!

To fix this problem, I renewed an old habit.

I set up a monthly reminder to review my spending and compare it to my budget.

I used to do it back when I was building wealth. . .

but once I reached financial security I stopped paying attention. . .

and it turns out I started sliding away from security almost immediately. . .

So now I have a monthly event on my Google Calendar that says “Check your budget”.

And I warmly recommend you do the same!

With this one little change, finding money to invest will become much easier.

And you won’t slide back towards the rat race of living paycheck to paycheck.

Keep taking action!
